Really? Seems crazy for a company that builds and sells websites to preach that not every company needs a website. We are right in the middle of a giant shift in how the internet works and is used. We are all familiar with the WWW model (World Wide Web) where basically users “surf” the web on personal computers to various websites. This model worked great and a ton of business spent a great deal of money to build their very own website to live happily on this new wonderful place called the internet. While social media was always there in the backgound it was still to disjointed to break down the rapid growth of traditional sites – yes there were chat rooms and instant messaging but people were still so geeked that they could order cook books from Amazon online.
Fast forward a few years enter the super social media juggernaughts Facebook, Twitter, Youtube. Before social networking had be niche’d into well defined cetegories. If you were into basket weaving you checked your favorite basket weaving message board. This new breed of social sites blew open the doors on categories and simply made a place for people to interact regardless of interests, hobbies, religion or politcal offiliation.
